Christ In The Coffee Shop: A Man Was Changed Today

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

So I am sitting here in a Tim Horton's having a coffee and doing some work. There was a man sitting at a table near me. He appeared to be between 60-65 years of age. It didn’t take long before I felt the Holy Spirit moving and knew that this man’s life would be changed today. I didn’t know how but I always know what this feelings means and I have learned to trust it. I felt Holy Spirit speak to me saying “ Say nothing, he will turn to speak to you”.

So of course I just did as The Lord instructed and I said nothing and just carried on with my work. The man went away and I totally forgot all about him. But when he re-appeared about 2 hours later later, I immediately remembered what the Lord told me and so still I said nothing and continued in my work and reading my Bible.

All of a sudden, I heard a voice speaking. I looked up and sure enough it was the man and he speaking to me, just as the Lord said. The man directed my eyes to the weather because it was suddenly snowing quite a bit and completely out of nowhere. We proceeded engaged in some small talk which presented its challenges because his English was not as strong as his Cantonese, he told me.

We Have been made to walk through horrific valleys of the shadow of death but always strengthened and emboldened by Love & The Truth, having each good step directed by The way of The Lord through His Holy Spirit. Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

We, A Peculiar People Walking With Jesus: strategic efforts which employ a host of coercion and pressure tactics have been implemented and executed for the specific purpose of making those of us in christ, derail, give in and turn away from our faith in god’s sovereignty and instead look to them in the world for refuge and sustenance. They cleverly & insidiously move and conspire to strip from us everyONE and everyTHING that we hold most dear. Job 2:9-10 – “Then his (Job) wife said to him, ‘Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!’ But he said to her, ‘You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?’ In all of this Job did not sin with his lips.” To We, The Peculiar People, the trials of Job, they are also happening to us today so Whatever you may have to go through, do not turn away from The Truth. Do not doubt The Word. The Lord is seeing us through. Just believe Him and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. You’re getting through this. We are all getting through this, together. You can always locate peace and freedom in the truth of The Word. The Lord is in full control.

I recently read a post from a friend who offered encouraging words around letting go of negativity.

And so his words got me thinking about some of my recent experiences of facing what felt like an unbearable process of having to let go of pain or of people who presented as negative in my own life. Here is some valuable insights I have been blessed to discover...

Having to let go of negativity, particularly when it’s packaged in or around those people with whom we hold great love for, is much much easier said than done. At times we are forced to do this when life calls upon us to take a stand for Truth, for Love and for Justice. It is in these moments that we are called to demonstrate “who we are” and what we stand for, in relationship to those around us including those we hold most dear. When faced with the toughest of these circumstances and battles, the highest position we can take is to place ourselves in the space where only Truth, Justice and Love will ultimately win out as the victor through those battles.

We know that The Lord is our Salvation. We know that to prepare The Way for us to be saved, in Love, Christ had to willfully and sacrificially overcome this death with dunamis power that is demonstrated in the resurrection. The Bible shows for us that Jesus’s life as a man was lived with uncompromising Truth, faithfulness, obedience and unwaivering Love. In John 14:6, The Lord said "I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” This means we believe in him follow the blueprint given to us through His written Word and by way of The Holy Spirt.

With that ground covered, there is something that needs to be addressed to the true body of Christ; something that continued to get in the way of us truly operating as a unified body. The church is lacking true empathy - We still fail to put ourselves in another shoes; This requires compassion and a willingness to heal the body as a whole. For us to finally arrive at a place of healing and unification, we must push ourselves to understand the challenges faced by our fellow brothers and sisters in this walk. When fail to see each other’s needs, we are not able to support each other. Without the ability to feel the pain occuring in another area of the body, that member suffers without anyone ever knowing to what extent. It is important for us to realize that we are a body of people that requires tremendous healing from a very demonic system that has operated this cruel harsh world that we have been subjected it. People In Christ, We need each other now more than ever.

The dandelion just seemed to endlessly flourish in abundance. I would pick them, smell them and admire the natural beauty of them that my eyes were able to clearly see. I held much anticipation imagining how happy my mother might be to receive this most beautiful bouquet that I was hand picking especially for her. I could always look forward to seeing the yellow bouquet in a cup of water on the kitchen counter or window sill. My bouquet seemed to just brighten up whatever room they were in and so therefore my world when I saw them.

I Have very earlier memories yet they still bring me joy when I focus my thoughts on them.

Why do children love the dandelion so much? Could it be more about what the dandelion represents to untrained eyes and to the untainted experience of an innocent child who only can see natural beauty and the overflowing source of abounding joy around them? All I know is that the dandelion brought me so much joy as a child. To me, it was the most beautiful flower until someone told me it was a weed. A weed? What's a weed? The name itself did not sound very pleasing. I learned that weeds are bad and that my beautiful, bright yellow joy-giving flower is nothing more than a bad, pesky, annoying weed. I can recall this shift in perspective was somewhat difficult for my young and then blissfully naive mind to process. So My beautiful flower is not even a flower at all they told me, it’s nothing more than a bothersome, ugly weed.
